All of us at Adlib are continually endeavoring to offer young performers new and exciting opportunities. Because of this in 2009 we launched our new Junior Musical Theatre Course.

This Junior Musical Course has been designed to enable students to learn about the process of a musical, from auditions to performance, and in 2011 will culminate in the production of “Tiny Thumbelina”, a fun, magical and exciting show full of great characters and music. This course, running from March to August, was created to give a unique experience to students between the age of 6 – 14 years. Please note that enrollment is essential prior to the course beginning. This show will be presented at the Cranbourne Theatre on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th August.

This wonderfully colourful production takes us into Thumbelina’s small and perilous world. An unpleasant family of toads and a water rat named Walter are all determined to capture her. Plus, a muddled old mole thinks our tiny heroine would make a fine wife for himself in his dismal, underground dwelling. If only Thumbelina could find Prince and Princess, the children who promised to take her to the Land of the Little People!

The play is spiced with other wonderful roles — the devious Cat who sells Thumbelina to the toads; kindly Old Mother Fieldmouse; Swallow, the flighty bird; Suzi, a spider who can spin a wedding dress; and many more.

This course requires total commitment by all students to every rehearsal date and time.
